Norstar’s management team comprises senior executives from shipping, banking and investment backgrounds.

Chris Bonehill – Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Chris began his professional shipping career at Clarkson PLC in 1989 and moved to Arrow Shipping (UK) Ltd in 1991 where he rose to the position of Director of Sale & Purchase. He established Norstar in 1998 initially as a UK-based ship brokerage firm, focused exclusively on major ship owning clients, and led its international expansion into its currently diversified maritime activities.

Tom Bonehill – CEO, Norstar Shipping (Asia) Pte Ltd

Tom Bonehill is CEO of Norstar Asia Pte Ltd which he founded in Singapore in 2005. Tom moved to Asia in 1993, initially spending a year in Jakarta followed by a year serving onboard a merchant navy vessel. Between 1995 and 1997 Tom trained as a ship broker with Clarksons in Hong Kong. He moved to Singapore at the end of 1997 where he has worked continuously, building an extensive portfolio of blue-chip Asian clients with particular focus on South East Asia and Japan.

Gary Washer – Group Director

Gary Washer has 25 years of experience in international mergers and acquisitions. In 1987 he co-founded and was CEO of CAM Galaxy Holdings, a European investment group, backed by Citicorp, Nomura, Security Pacific and other institutions, which bought and sold over 30 companies. Gary advised Acxiom Corporation, EC Soft Group, General Dynamics and other multinationals on acquisitions and divestments in Europe.

Jonathan Osmon – Group Finance Director

Jonathan qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in London, rising to manager level before joining SITA, the leading IT and communications provider to the aviation industry, where he became a CFO.

James Fleming – Advisor

James Fleming is an international banker with over 25 years experience. He is Head of International Private Banking with Coutts & Co and is a member of the Management Committee of the Bank. James joined Coutts in 2002 from SG Hambros where he was Managing Director of UK Private Banking.

Ajit Kurup – Managing Director, Luna Ship Management Pte Ltd

Ajit is MD of Norstar’s affiliated ship management company Luna Ship Management Pte Ltd. He is a qualified Marine Engineer (BS) with over 20 years experience in ship management.  His career in technical management began at Wallem Ship Management in 1979 then Ravenscroft Shipping Inc USA. Between 1993-1995 Ajit was Associate VP of Bureau Veritas responsible for the implementation of  ISO and ISM code in the US. After a further 6 years at Ravenscroft as VP where he was responsible for managing over 30 ships, Ajit then formed Shiptech Inc, providing asset protection, inspection and risk mitigation services for Insurers, Owners and banks.
